New SPL

The troop held their biannual SenNew SPLior Patrol Leader (SPL) Election on April 13th. The race came down to two candidates both with impressive resumes. Derek L. was ultimately elected and will be begin his term on May 1st. Derek is currently a Life scout who has been a member of Troop 150 for five years. He will serve the Troop as SPL during summer camp at Goshen; the biggest troop event of the year. Derek says he will do his best to utilize his staff to its full potential as well as have a successful trip to Goshen. He is very excited for this opportunity to lead the troop and will do his best to serve them over the next 6 months.

 

SCOUTStrong® 5k Race

2015 ScoutSTRONG 5k WinnersThe Old Dominion District held their 3rd annual SCOUTStrong® 5k Race/Walk. Troop 150 had 7 people participate among them were the 1st and 3rd place overall winners, as well as the 10-13 and 19-29 age group winners. The race took place at Burke Lake Park over the high school cross country course. With over 60 participiants, it set a new record for attendance. SCOUTStrong® is part of the BSA’s “Healthy Living Initiative”  which encourages all members of scouting to be “physically strong” and ” integrates active lifestyles, healthy eating, and emotional fitness into everything that the Boy Scouts of America does through alliances, campaigns, and updated programs.”

April 17-18 Troop 150 attended the 2015 Multi-District Spring Camporee at New Market, Virginia. Along with the Old Dominion District the Troop was joined by five other districts as well as units from a total of 6 states. The overall attendance was over 1,500 scouts. Scouts were given the unique oportunity to camp on the batlefeild and reanact the battle for it’s 151st aniversary.

 

 

Men’s Breakfast

On April 25th Troop 150 held their annual Men’s Breakfast. The Troop prepared and served breakfast for our chartering organization; The Annandale United Methodist Men (AUMM). The scouts cooked french toast casserole and lots of bacon. Then the scouts shared breakfast with the AUMM. The Troop also set up displays to show what kind of gear the Troop uses during campouts along with media presentations exhibiting activities the Troop did in the past year.
